The boy who broke the ancient bronze age pot returned to the museum

Ariel Geller’s family was invited on a guided tour of the Hecht Museum in Haifa, Israel, just days after a rare, 3,500-year-old jar was broken into the four-year-old museum. The museum told the BBC that the crockery is ancient. Bronze Age between 2200 and 1500 BC – and was a rare artifact because it was so intact. The jar was one of the artefacts placed in the open, part of the museum’s vision to allow visitors to explore the past without mirrors or barriers. The jar was most likely used to transport local supplies, such as wine and olive oil. It predates the biblical King David and King Solomon and is characteristic of the Canaan region on the eastern Mediterranean coast.
